Seasonal Flowers

Annual Bedding and Container Plants

Annual flowering plants bloom all season and offer a spectacular variety of color choices. With every gardening season, we produce annuals for spring planting so that CNY gardeners can boost the color performance of their gardens and outdoor planters.

We grow Proven Winners® and other specialty plants along with traditional plant varieties. Because our 4 1/2" pots are so successful, we provide almost all of our selections in 4 1/2" pots.

We offer more than one hundred distinct combinations.
Lemon Symphony, Nemesia and Verbena offer a beautiful combination of yellow and blue.

Advantage of using Annuals

Planting annuals each year has definite rewards, because of their long bloom season. No other group of plants offers the length of continuous color through spring, summer and fall that is provided by annuals. With this long blooming season comes a nearly unlimited choice of colors.

Container gardening

Annuals are especially suited for use in planter boxes, patio pots and hanging baskets. Adding color-filled pots to the porch, deck or patio is an excellent way to enhance the exterior décor of your home. We have made a commitment to providing many specialty annuals that perform well as container plants. The Proven Winners® brand includes many plants that will provide distinctive contributions to your specialty potting needs. Trailing varieties of petunia and verbena provide excellent combinations.

Planting Times

In order to perform throughout our outdoor growing season, annuals are started in greenhouses weeks before they can be safely planted outside. Tender annuals should not be planted outside until after the danger of frost is past. This usually occurs in mid-May in our area. Cold tolerant annuals, such as pansies, violas and alyssums can be planted earlier. Regardless of when annuals are planted it is good advice to harden them. Three days of keeping them in a protected area during the day and covering them at night are usually enough to acclimate them to outdoor temperatures. After Memorial Day, nearly all of our annuals are pre-hardened and ready for immediate transplanting.

Proper Care

To keep annuals performing at their best all season long, be sure to provide plenty of water and adequate fertilizer. With proper care, annuals will look beautiful throughout the season.
