Poisonous Plants to Cats

Many cats have a natural tendency to chew greenery to help aid them in digestion and elimination.  When outdoor grasses and greenery are not available, cats may choose to nibble on decorative house plans and outdoor shrubbery.  Unfortunately with certain houseplants, that little stolen bite could be harmful and even fatal.  Cat owners should avoid the plants from the following list- keeping in mind that, where specific parts of plants are not specified as poisonous, assume the entire plant is poisonous.  In case of emergency, contact your veterinarian or call the National Animal Poison Control Center Hotline (whose numbers are included at the end of this list).
