Flowering Trees

 Trees are the backbone of any landscape – they anchor the landscape giving the entire site it’s sense of scale. Trees grow in varying shapes and forms, can have different colored foliage from burgundy to yellow to green and white variegated and often provide a spectacular autumn show. Within all these different color possibilities there also exists innumerable textures and leaf shapes as well. The following trees are available every season at Little York Plantation:

Serviceberry (Amelanchier canadensis) – 30-35ft. white flowers.
Brilliant Serviceberry (Amelanchier x grandiflora) – 20-25ft. white flowers.
Devil’s Walking Stick (Aralia elata) – 15-20ft. white flowers.
Northern Catalpa (Catalpa speciosa) – 40-60ft. white flowers.
Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis) – 20-30ft. rose pink flowers.
Forest Pansy Redbud (Cercis canadensis) – 20-30ft. rose pink flowers, burg. Foliage.
Fringe Tree (Chionanthus virginiana) – 15-20ft. greenish white flower clusters.
Crimson Cloud Hawthorn (Crataegus crus-galli) – 20-25ft. sm. red flower clusters.
Crusader (Cruzam) Hawthorn (Crataegus crus-galli) – 15ft. white flowers.
Hawthorne ‘inermis’ (Crataegus crus-galli) – 20-30ft. thornless variety, white flowers
Toba Hawthorn (Crataegus succulent) – 15-20ft. white flowers age to pink.
Hawthorn ‘Winter King’ (Crataegus viridis) – 25ft. clustered wht flwrs, red fruit.
Hawthorn ‘Snowbird’ (Crataegus x morden) – 22ft. clusters of dbl white flowers.
Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) – 60-90ft. fast growing tulip shape flowers.
Apple (Malus sp.) – 15-20 ft. various varieties, fruit bearing and edible.

Flowering Purple-leaf Plums (Prunus sp.) - various sizes, three varieties.
Black Cherry (Prunus serotina) – 50-60ft. fragrant blossoms, edible fruit.
