Houseplant Care and Condition Guide

Healthy living plants make an attractive and welcoming sight in the home and office. Below is a guide for many common houseplants with recommended conditions to maintain optimum health.

Under the heading 'Light' are the three conditions Bright Light (BL - direct sunlight or bright indirect light), Moderate Light (ML - diffused light from a north window or partial shade), and Low Light (LL - some distance from windows and no natural light). The 'Temperature' recommendations are 'Cool to Average' (CA - days of 60F-75F and nights to 45F) and 'Warm to Average' (WA - 70F-80F days, 85F tolerable,  and 55F minimum nights). 'Watering' recommendations are for soil moisture: 'Moist Soil' (MS - do not allow to dry out at all ), 'Partly Dry' (PD - allow plants to partially dry out between waterings), and 'Dry Soil' (DS - allow to dry out completely between waterings - a necessary part of their life cycle). Some plants may require special care or conditions and you will find such recommendations under the 'Notes' column.
