Star Magnolias

Bring a Heavenly Experience to Early Spring!

The Magnolia buds are one of the first to open in the spring. While trees and shrubs remain grey and brown through most of the spring, magnolias bloom early. Royal Star magnolias provide brilliant white color in April. The double blooms are fragrant, more than 3" across; the petals have an attractive curl. With a compact, rounded growth habit and a mature height of only 8-10 feet, Royal Star magnolias are excellent accent plants for small yards and landscape plantings.

Magnolias, like lilacs and rhododendrons, form their flower buds in late summer. Avoid pruning during the fall and winter months, because untimely pruning will decrease the following year,s blooms. The best time to prune magnolias is mid to late spring, after the flowering has finished and before summer growth begins.
